Our Art Deco Kitchen Project

Brighton

Shortlisted for the KBB review Design Awards 2024 ‘Best Kitchen’; this stunning Art Deco scheme was 12 years in the making for our clients who spent their time trying to track down the perfect company to provide the kitchen for the painstaking restoration of their period property. Our brief was to create a unique design of hand-built Art Deco style cabinetry, housing the functionality of a modern high-spec kitchen. Burr-walnut, heavily figured sycamore and oak are combined along with lacquered white units to create a luxury palette true to the era.

Classy curves, drawer line units with contrasting veneers, and 1920s styling are key to the look. A completely bespoke island with a sweeping a-symmetric curve is built to suit the shape of the room with its central pillar and to maximise storage within. Other clever storage solutions include: a notched larder containing pullouts and internal shelves to concealing a hidden step in the wall, hidden spice racks within the canopy, and the island’s feature ribbed-walnut round unit to house the couple’s cocktail and wine glasses adjacent to the dining area.

The true pièce-de-résistance of this space is the feature canopy which clads the existing fireplace, with its sycamore inlay design and mounted stone frieze. A real emblem of Art Deco design which then houses concealed storage and a modern Bora vented hob for the ultimate combination of retro design and modern functionality.

Our Brighton clients are overjoyed that we were able to produce something truly bespoke for them that will honour the rest of their home for years to come. Find out more about our latest Art Deco range by clicking here
