How We Work

Every Ashley Jay kitchen begins the same way, with a conversation, not a catalogue.

We don't sell from a showroom and we don't work from a fixed range. Every kitchen we design is built around a specific home, a specific family, and a specific way of living. We keep our client list deliberately small so that every project receives the attention it deserves.

Our Process

From your first visit to the final reveal, we’re here to bring your vision to life. Our expert team will guide you through each step with personalised support and attention to every detail, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience from start to finish.

1. Discovery Call

Getting to know each other

Before anything else, we talk. A short call, usually 20 to 30 minutes, to understand what you're looking for, where you are in your project, and whether Ashley Jay Kitchens is the right fit for you.

We're not trying to sell you anything at this stage. We're listening. We want to understand your home, your timeline, how you actually use your kitchen, and what hasn't worked in the past. If it feels like a good match on both sides, we'll move forward to a design consultation.

2. Video Design Consultation

A friendly chat about your ideas

Our design consultation takes place over video, giving us the chance to get to know you, your home, and what you’d like to achieve before we begin the design process.

We’ll talk through your vision, concerns, wish list, and anything you’d rather not repeat from a previous kitchen, as well as how you use the space day to day and any practical details we need to consider. If you have plans, measurements, images, or inspiration, we’ll review these together so we can build a clear brief and understand the best way to move your project forward.

There is no obligation at this stage. It’s simply a chance to experience how we work and see whether we’re the right fit for your project.

3. Design Development

Turning your brief into a considered design

This is where we do the work. Using everything we've gathered from your consultation, we begin translating your brief into a considered design, exploring layouts, proportions, material combinations, and functional details that are specific to your home and the way you live.

We often develop more than one direction. Not because we're undecided, but because we believe the best outcome comes from exploring properly, including options you might not have considered yourself. Nothing here is template-driven. Every decision is made with your project in mind.

4. Design Presentation

Seeing it come to life

When the design is ready, we present it to you, in detail, and at a pace that gives you time to think.

You'll see full visuals, material selections, and a clear rationale for every decision. We'll walk you through not just what we've designed, but why, and where we've made recommendations that differ from your original brief; we'll explain our thinking honestly.

This is a conversation, not a pitch. We welcome questions, challenges, and changes. It's important to us that you leave feeling completely clear, not pressured to decide.

5. Project Refinement

Getting it exactly right

Most projects go through a refinement stage after the initial presentation. This is entirely normal and something we build time for. Adjusting a layout, reconsidering a material, exploring a different configuration, this is where the detail is settled.

We won't rush this process. A kitchen that has been properly refined before it goes into production is a kitchen that installs cleanly and lives well. This is also the stage at which final specifications are confirmed, and your installation date is scheduled.

6. Installation

Professionally delivered

Installation is managed by our own trusted team, working to the same standards as the design process itself. We don't hand your project over and disappear; we remain involved throughout.

Every Ashley Jay kitchen is signed off against our own internal standards before we consider a project complete. If something needs attention, we address it, without hesitation, and without additional cost to you. Your kitchen is finished when it's right, not simply when the last day on site is done.
