Modern Open Plan Hand Painted Shaker Kitchen
Hangleton, East Sussex
When our client’s renovated and extended their bungalow into a spacious modern open plan villa, architecture and interior design had to compliment each other perfectly. In this beautiful project we helped create a central hub of a kitchen which flowed from the entrance hallway and rooms and the front of the house, then opens up to the dropped-level dining and living space and the stunning views beyond. The classic in-frame Shaker cabinetry is given a modern styling through the colour palette, sleek stone worktops and industrial brick wall cladding. The result is a space that is both contemporary and classic, stylish yet homely; a balance that is hard to achieve.
We created three zones to the design: a practical sink area central to the picture window, framed by its brick cladding. A tall bank housing appliances and storage all in one place, and a large feature island. The main place of action in the kitchen, the island contains the Bora extracting hob, oak breakfast bar detail by Spekva, deep pan drawers for practicality, and is finished with framed panels and decorative plinth details.
The project was finished with a neat matching utility, maximizing space through a bespoke angled sink, nestled between tall boiler and broom storage and the hidden laundry appliances.
Siemens appliances, brass handles by Armas Martin and matching brass taps from both Quooker and Abode complete the look.
