Grand Shaker Kitchen And Breakfast Room

Steyning

This client returned to Ashley Jay 20 years after their first kitchen from us, to create a large bespoke kitchen as part of their ground floor renovations. Our brief was to create a kitchen and breakfast dining space with flowed through to the new orangery, creating a real ‘hub of the home’ feel. The scale of the room called for a large central island, whilst the clients also wanted additional elements of furniture – including the TV and entertainment unit – made to match the kitchen, crafting a unified design scheme. It was crucial for the client that we retain a classic feel to their room whilst updating their previous, more traditional, kitchen. This was achieved using an in-frame cabinet style with cock-beading, oak drawer boxes and a hand-painted finish.

Cleverly designed bespoke dresser units were not only made to fit perfectly the room’s alcoves but to disguise hidden air conditioning units. It was vital that these concealed the mechanics whilst providing sufficient air circulation and full access for servicing and maintenance.

The design also features fabulous Subzero and Wolf fridges, wine coolers and chiller drawers as well as Miele ovens. The client loves to cook and so wanted plenty of cooking appliances with contemporary features whilst framing them in a special canopy to create a real focal point for the grand room. 50mm extra thick quartz worktops with Silestone integrity moulded quartz sink finish off this design, adding weight and style to match the grandeur of the room.
